Cottage Living area redesign

I had great fun with this project! The owners of this beautiful thatched Cottage in Devon contacted me to help with the redesign of their living area.

They needed more space for their family and friends when visiting and wanted the rooms to be bought up to date yet still reflect the country, coastal vibe of the area.

As with all projects I started with a thorough design analysis, drilling down into the Client's requirements, wants and needs for the project.  This accumulates into an abstract concept that drives the colours, texture, shapes and mood of the  space.

Laid back Country Sophistication

It was decided that a central wall would be knocked through in order to fully utilise the space.  Bespoke chunky wall panelling would create a cosy feel and also sit well within the traditional property.  A large, custom designed shelving unit would provide a neat space for housing the TV along with oodles of storage and nooks for display.

A deep tone was chosen for the ceiling to accentuate that cosy feel, and was wrapped down and over the  storage unit to help disguise the TV and provide a sharp backdrop for decorative items.  A brighter colour was used for the walls to keep things fresh

Texture, Texture, Texture!

Wool, linen, silk and sheepskin add comfort, warmth and cosiness to this coastal cottage. Along with different types of lighting which is crucial  for function and ambience.

All work for this project was completed virtually, this allows me to work on any project wherever you are based in the country.
